  • 定義：指能夠藉由自然界的循環以產生源源不絕且不會造成環境污染的能源。

    •            一般而言，綠色能源包括太陽能、水力能、風力能、海洋能、地熱能、氫能

               和生質能，也有人稱之為再生能源。

    由於能源需求逐年增加，使得現今全球主要是靠消耗大量化石能源來提供人類生活所需，雖然換來全世界經濟文明的快速成長，卻使全球二氧化碳排放量大幅提升，造成負面的影響-暖化效應。有鑑於此，需要解決人類經濟成長與環境維護雙贏的方法，就是得發展新式綠色能源。目前綠色新政已為全球潮流，在各國積極發展綠能產業之際，台灣自產能源不足且能源進口依存度高達九成以上，更反映出台灣發展綠色能源刻不容緩。加上海島型台灣本身資源缺乏且易受氣候變異影響，推動二氧化碳減量降低溫室效應的危害，發展綠色能源產業更具重要意義。長庚大學近幾年來就積極推展從事綠色能源的研究並已成立相關綠色科技中心，發展如太陽能電池、發光二極體固態照明及綠色環保製程技術等重點，在專業人才培訓、專利、期刊論文發表等方面都有長足的進步，期許能在未來的人類經濟文明永續經營發展上做出貢獻。
